Vale John Rowe

Published Wed 02 Sep 2015

It is with great sadness that we inform the club of the passing of John Rowe. John, husband of Anne (Mum Rowe) father of Andrew, a former National league player for West’s, Natty, a National league player, grade player and coach at West’s and Sarah who played for Cronulla.

Once bringing Andrew and Natty down to play polo for West’s over 25 years ago, John became heavily involved within the club in many aspects. John and Anne were hugely supportive of, and took into their home, up and coming water polo hopeful’s of the time from Tamworth such as Nathan Thomas and Heath Beneke. As Andrew and Natty became National league players John became the National league team manager procuring our first sponsorships from companies outside the club, which lead to many interesting team uniforms. John was most generous with his time, money and expertise to the club and we benefitted greatly from his involvement whether as a manager or a ‘One – eyed’ West’s supporter hurling abuse at our opposition and referees and always a regular at the club house. Over the years John and Anne (Dad and Mum Rowe) have continued to enjoy watching the game we all love and confirming the friendships made.

John was a true ‘Westie’, that bled black and white and whose involvement has contributed to the wonderful club we have today.

Thank you John Rowe!
